Shadow Pixie says Hello to Everybody

Thu Oct 22, 2009, 8:31 AM
Hey guys, those of you that knew me previously and those who will come to know me and my artwork, always good to make new friends.

So, as of a few days ago, I changed my art tag to shadow--pixie, mainly because i like it.

I'm in the process of doing my Masters this year, It was all up in the air for a little while but now I'm all moved and settled, and within the next two weeks my job will be restricted to weekends rather than every day so i have room to study.. And be creative to my hearts content.. also to become a tea fish.

(This is a little preview of what i'll be writing about)

' In the creative industries, the companies involved total over 140,000. This being said a tiny percentage make up over 50% of its turnover. These are more prominent mainstream companies you will have heard of, such as the BBC. But media itself has changed. The Games Industry has evolved and expanded over the past century to such a degree that it has a part to play in most features of everyday life.
If you press the red button on your sky remote, you can play mini games.
Pcs are installed with solitaire or chess, cutting out the physical need for a chess board opting for a more modern approach of the digital. These simple yet effective Entertainment forms have run their course, over time the demands for highly visual and emotive games have risen to a monumental degree. We no longer feel the need to watch things happen in real – life, for example people have died playing world of war craft, so engrossed in their self created world, they opted out of their reality. So what is more dangerous, reality, or the alternate choice you can recreate to suit your needs? If you can effectively mimic life it is because the need to create something new and challenging has made it so. Remediation to the point where differentiating between life and a fantasy world in your hands becomes a battle of wills to stay grounded to reality. '

Supportive Quote from Sage Publications:

“Media convergence is more than simply a technological shift. Convergence alters the relationship between existing technologies, industries, markets, genres and audiences.”

So next on my agenda is to carry on with that, already playing with UT3.

See you guys soon, and when i post my artwork, you know I'm always grateful for your critique

Peace and love.
